Soda Book: Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Resort 2012

It’s too early to think about what to wear when warmer weather comes next year, but you can never be too ready for fashion. Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Resort 2012 is out, and the collection will have you thinking about frolicking in the sun while pounding the city streets right now. It’s the fourth collection for Opening Ceremony from the It Girl, and this time around, she’s mashing up old-school streetwear with vintage underwear. Like her previous collections, this one has a retro slant to it, filled with 80s cuts and colors.

There are round sunglasses in interesting color mixes in flame red, deep purple, and black. There are shirts and dresses with urban silhouettes and cut-out shoulders; feminine pieces like white pinafore dresses and pink jean pants; edgy dresses with bustier tops and eyelet holes; denim and leather bags; high top and low top sneakers in leopard print blue, red, and tan; printed bike shorts; platform sneakers in black and white; berets; even a black leather doctor’s bag with handcuffs on on the handles; and more. Soda Book: A Sneak Peak at ShoeMint

Shoe Clubs are all the rage these days, and the latest one to launch is ShoeMint. A collaborative project between It Girl Rachel Bilson, stylist Nicole Chavez, and shoemaker Steve Madden, it’s a fun, yet affordable shoe shopping experience. All you need to do is sign up and take their Style Quiz to figure out your Style Profile. After that, you get customized shoe picks that are attuned to your sartorial sensibilities every month.

The site’s officially launching next year, but you can have a look at the debut collection for Winter 2012 right now. There’s something for everybody – cool wedge booties, ladylike platform stilettos, and edgy corseted wedges. Sadly, almost all of the pieces are sold out already, but do check out the lookbook to get a taste of what to expect next year.

Versace for H&M came out today in different parts of the world, and it’s coming out in the US on November 19. As expected, people came in droves and a lot of stores have sold out. The collection’s vibrant graphics, wild prints, and brilliant colors really resonated with fashionistas all over. It’s the end of October – you should be hunting for party dresses already. If you haven’t started yet, don’t fret. Macy’s has got you covered this season. Giambattista Valli for Impulse at Macy’s is out, and it’s a capsule collection that’s chock-full of festive frocks.

The couture master turned out incredibly feminine, yet fun pieces. He used bright colors like fuchsia and red, yet also made some sexy black, gray, and neutral items. He chose standout prints as well, which include leopard, polka dots, and florals. Textures were wonderfully diverse, as the designer used a variety of materials that ranged from brocade and tweed to lace, faux fur, and point d’esprit tulle. Some dresses had pretty ruffles, while some were sheer, ruched, shiny, or petal and sequin-studded. There are dresses, jackets, skirts, tops, pants, and accessories – all of which give off an energetic and flirty vibe that’s perfect for the holiday season. If anything catches your fancy however, you better start shopping. This line is only on a limited edition run. It will disappear in no time.

Soda Book: TOMS get luxe for The Row

The good old reliable TOMS shoes just got a luxe makeover. The brand has collaborated with the Olsen Twins’ The Row label, giving the rough-and-tumble shoes a plush spin. The Row took the classic TOMS shoes and gave them comfortable, yet rich materials. Italian wool and cashmere blends were used to make the shoes. Lamb leather now lines the insides. Black suede makes up the insoles. A latex arch insert was also added for better support. The results of the collaboration came out looking completely chic. TOMS x The Row comes in three versions – black and gray plaid, plain black, and plain gray. It was about time the casual cool slip-on sneakers got an upgrade, and what a major upgrade it was.

*Message in a SodaBottle: TOMS x The Row are almost twice the price of the regular TOMS, but they are limited edition from The Row after all. TOMS also gives a child in need a pair of shoes every time they sell a pair, so you get to do some do-gooding while getting your luxury brand shopping fix.

Missoni for Target’s out and it’s been pure madness. Target.com has been going up and down for a while, because the demand for the collection has been incredibly overwhelming. A lot of items are already out of stock.

The knitwear empire’s collaboration with the retailer has been highly anticipated, and it just might be Target’s biggest designer collection to date. The line is extensive, ranging from clothes to accessories. There are knit dresses, jackets, sweaters, bathingsuits, intimates, shoes, bags, and even hair accessories. They even came out with a bike! Everything was made with the classic Missoni knits, done in the brand’s trademark prints. Make sure you run over to Target now or click on over to the website . The collection’s selling like hotcakes and it will be all gone in a hot minute for sure.

Soda Book: Rodarte for Opening Ceremony Fall-Winter 2011

Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte and Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Opening Ceremony have released the Fall-Winter 2011 lookbook of Rodarte for Opening Ceremony. Rodarte’s collaboration with Opening Ceremony has been a remarkable thing so far, and the partnership has now yielded a second collection. The first line released last February was dreamy, retro, and feminine with micro-florals and light shades – perfect for Spring-Summer 2011. The second line is still dreamy, retro, and feminine, but this time around, it’s got an undercurrent that’s a little old world and a little Alice in Wonderland.

Fall-Winter 2011 is Scandinavian-themed, with Nordic prints, multiple slits, complex patterns, deep shades, and faded pastels. There are knitted tops, ruffled trimmings, flowing dresses, leather skirts, and printed pants. This time around, the collection includes menswear as well – all with the same old world feel to it. Browse through the storybook-like lookbook then check out the items for pre-order at the Opening Ceremony store. This collection will probably disappear even before fall officially begins.

Retro minimalism is back in circulation, as Coach makes the old new again with a new line of reissued handbags. The Coach Classics collection is now out, featuring five of the brand’s classic handbags from the ’70s. These bags will take you on a trip back to a different era, with shoulder bags, satchels, hobo bags and totes in straightforward colors.

The Small Leather Shoulder Bag is a handy purse with thin, double shoulder straps. Available in red and tan, it’s simple, yet extremely chic.

The Leather Field Bag is the ultimate school girl satchel. It’s roomy, has convenient pockets, and comes in somber navy and tan colors, but doesn’t look stuffy at all.

The Madison Small Leather Tote is the quintessential doctor’s bag, given the Coach twist. Out in black and tan leather, this cult style boasts clean lines and an impeccable form.
The Stewardess Leather Shoulder Bag is the most 70s out of the collection, with its deep, mahogany finish and U shape. This is one tote that definitely won’t look out of place in the office, but will also be at home on your shoulder during off-hours cocktails.

The Duffel Leather Bucket Bag is iconic – it was even carried by Ali McGraw as Jennifer Cavalleri-Barrett in Love Story. If you’re a girl who likes carrying around everything including the kitchen sink, this is one must-have bag.

Sarah Burton has proven herself to be the only person who can take on the enormous job of being Alexander McQueen’s successor. Alexander McQueen’s legendary creations are tough acts to follow, but Sarah Burton has been able to distill the Alexander McQueen’s vision and make it her own. Her Spring-Summer 2011 collection is made up of black, white and more or less neutral-colored pieces, and yet they look to be made of the same genius as that of her predecessor’s. Dresses with simple cuts are made intricate with lace, beading and ornate gold patterns. Short white pieces appear very summery, and yet still retain an old world feel to them. The same goes for the deliciously spring prints that still have that classic McQueen medieval vibe, but are also modern and feminine in cuts. The entire lookbook is now up at AlexanderMcQueen.com. Warning: This collection can induce spring fever right now in the middle of winter.

Minnie Mouse is the quintessential girly-girl. Always in a dress and heels with a big bow on the top of her head, this classic cartoon character is something to look at and adore while Mickey Mouse is running around on his adventures. That is why Forever 21 made her the brand’s muse this season. The retailer partnered up with Disney to make a limited edition holiday collection based on the iconic little mouse. Aptly called Minnie Muse, the line centers around the idea of Minnie Mouse in chic Parisian outfits. There are boyfriend cardigans, graphic tees, hoodies, shirts, socks, headbands, and all sorts of bottoms, with most of them featuring the trademark Minnie Mouse silhouette.
