The Recipe

For the face, Marina prepped Stacy’s skin the night before the Golden Globes with KeSARI Pore Minimizing Indian Clay Masque. On the day of the show, she put KeSARI Dark Circle Brightening Cream on Stacy’s undereye area before putting on makeup to reduce puffiness and give her face a subtle flow. Then she used NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer and HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Sand Beige to create a makeup base. She then applied NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Matte Foundation for a non-shiny finish. NYX Highlight & Contour Powder was used to define the cheekbones, and NYX Powder Blush in Dusty Rose was brushed over the apples of Stacy’s cheeks.

For the eyes, Marina used NYX HD Studio Photogenic Concealer Wand in Beige to Stacy’s under eye area to even out the skin tone. Then she dotted NYX Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner on the top lid to make Stacy’s lashes look thicker, and then she did a thin line using NYX Liquid Black Liner mixed with NYX Powder Brown Liner on the lower lash line. Next, Marina used the shimmery light beige eye shadow from the NYX Butt Naked Eyes Palette on the lids, and the brown eye shadow from the same palette on the crease. She topped it all off with three coats of NYX Le Chick Flick Waterproof Mascara.

For the lips, Marina kept Stacy’s look really simple with a neutral lip liner and NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Natural.

Kate Beckinsale and Shailene Woodley both had neutral nails the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. They were two of the many ladies who wore pale gowns, and they both decided on neutral-colored nail polish from Essie to serve as accents for their delicate dresses. Essie gave us the lowdown on the shades these fabulous actresses wore.

Kate Beckinsale was in a cream-colored Roberto Cavalli gown with lots of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. She wore a mix of Essie’s neutral-colored Lady Like and Au Natural that gave her nails such a clean look against her fantastic dress.

Shailene Woodley had on a silver Marchesa dress. It was a classic gown that she made a little more interesting with Essie’s earthy Very Structure lacquer. It’s a burnt orange shade that added color to her shimmery outfit.

These ladies could have opted for glittery shades for the glittery event, but they chose to keep it all simple instead. They winded up looking amazing anyway.

Julie Bowen positively twinkled at the 2011 American Music Awards. The Modern Family actress arrived at the event in what looked to be a glittery, striped sweater dress from Manish Arora, and she had this wonderfully bright and tousled look about her. The Recipe
For the face, Heather prepped Julie’s skin first with the NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer and a light sweep of NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Soft Beige. Then she used NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation in Medium Beige to set the liquid foundation and to help Julie stay shine-free on the red carpet. She topped it all off with NYX HD Studio Photogenic Grinding Powder in Nude for a flawless finish. After, Heather applied the mauve blush from the NYX Butt “Naked” Eyes Palette on the apples of Julie’s cheeks, and then used the bronzers and shimmery illuminator in the palette to contour and highlight.

For the eyes, Heather made a 60s cat eye on Julie with the NYX Collection Noir Glossy Black Liner. Then she smudged it and mixed it with the dark, shimmery gray eyeshadow from the NYX Butt “Naked” Eyes Palette between Julie’s top lashes. To create color contrast, she used the shimmery taupe eyeshadow from the palette across the lids, and then used the palette’s pale pink shimmery eyeshadow between Julie’s brows and lids to enhance the brow bone. Next, Heather used NYX Eyebrow Marker in Medium to shade in the brows, and then she set them with Giorgio Armani Eyebrow Pencil in #3. Several coats of NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Long Lash finished it off.

For the lips, Heather chose neutral color and left the drama to the eyes. She used the nude-tinted NYX Color Lip Balm in Spasibo, and then just added shine and volume with the NYX Pump It Up Lip Plumper in Kim to give Julie a feminine pout.

Beyonce was radiant at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. The pop star announced at the event that she was going to have a baby with husband Jay-Z, and she was absolutely glowing with happiness. Her makeup also helped make her look bloom. She wore an exquisite, vivid orange Lanvin gown, so she kept her face fresh and light in contrast. We got the lowdown from NYX on how to recreate Beyonce’s VMAs look with makeup that won’t break the bank, so read on.

The Recipe

For the face, start with a lightweight foundation (like the NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation – $15) all over the face. It will help you get the perfect, camera-ready, dewy skin tone. Then copy Beyonce’s bronzed but natural-looking cheeks with the help of a light coral blush (try is the NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Tickled – $6.50). To further enhance the bronzed effect, let the blush set a bit, then add NYX Bronzer & Blusher Combo in Sunrise in Bali (coming out this September) on top of it.

For the eyes, use a light gray shadow like NYX Single Eyeshadow in Gunmental ($5) to get a low-key, metallic effect. Spread the shadow lightly from the inner corner of the eye towards the outer corner. Keep going until a point beyond the corner for a subtle cat-eye, which makes eyelashes look longer and darker. Then, line the top lashes with a charcoal eyeliner (check out NYX Slide On Pencil in Gun Metal – $8). Top it all off with a lengthening mascara. Curl the lashes first for 45 seconds with an eyelash curler, then apply three coats of the NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Long Lash – Black ($9) to the upper lashes and two coats to the lower lashes for a thick and fluttery effect.

For the lips, keep them natural. Just add a hint of color, but make sure you have volume. Try the NYX Pump It Up Lip Plumper ($6) to make lips look full without going overboard on color.

The Recipe
For the eyes, Karan used Maybelline Expertwear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte. She used the soft, shimmery shade of the palette on Selena’s lids up to the crease. Then she used the lightest gold hue from the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Luminizing Eyeshadow in Caffeine Rush on the inside corners and as a highlight under the brow bone. The deepest warm copper shade from Maybelline Expertwear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte was used in the outside corners of the eyes, while Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Charcoal was used to line the upper and lower lashes. She finished the look off with three coats of Maybelline New York Limited Edition Vivienne Tam Great Lash Mascara in Very Black.

For the lips, Karan kept it simple. She slicked on Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Pink Satin for a feminine pout, and that was that.

For the face, Selena’s glow came from Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation in Naturel as a base. To set the base, Karan applied Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder in Pure Beige. She used Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer in Light Bronze to contour the cheeks.

For the lips, Karan used the NYX Black Label Lipstick in 174 Nude as a base, then put NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sweet Heart over it.

We loved Anna Kendrick’s dreamy, delicate look at the 82nd Oscars in her pink Elie Saab gown. The Recipe:

“Starting with her skin, I first removed any impurities and left-over makeup with Arcona Triad Pads. They are great because they cleanse, tone and hydrate the skin. I then used Arcona’s Magic White Ice gel moisturizer. It is light, doesn’t clog pores and protects against environmental damage. Anna has amazing youthful, flawless skin, so it is all about revealing her natural beauty. I used Temptu Retouch highlighter in Champagne Shimmer to highlight her best quality – her flawless skin.

I wanted to use her natural beauty and lightness so I accented the apples of her cheeks with Tarte Eco Cheek by dabbing and blending with my fingertips. I like to use products with natural ingredients so this cheek stain is great.

For lips, I used Tarte’s LipSurgence natural lip stain in Charmed as the base and then added Samantha, a pale cotton candy pink gloss on top. I wanted to create a soft, healthy lip with a touch of shine.

Because we didn’t want to overpower the radiance of Anna’s complexion and youthfulness, we decided to use more neutral colors for the eye. I really love Dior’s 5 Couleurs eye shadow palette in Sunset Café. Again, we kept it very soft with bronze undertones. I completed the look with DiorShow Unlimited in Black.

To finish everything, I spritzed her face with the Lavender Hydrasol to seal in moisture and to leave a fresh, glowing radiance.”

Lauren Conrad is looking very sweet these days. The reality star turned designer and book author is right in the midst of a book tour at the moment, doing loads of signings and appearances for her second book, Sweet Little Lies. She has a lot on her plate right now, but she still manages to keep her makeup always looking perfect. As it turns out, she does it with help from Mark Cosmetics.

Lucky for you, Mark has revealed how to do the makeup that Lauren has been rockin’ for her Sweet Little Lies tour. The look features Lauren’s trademark winged eyeliner and a candy pink mouth to go with the theme (her first book was named LA Candy – you get the idea). Lauren also sported a modified version of this at her Barnes and Noble book signing, where she swapped the candy pink lip color for a more natural pink shade. There are really busy days when you just want to wake up in the morning and leave without having to pick out a nice outfit or take the time to put on some makeup. That’s wishful thinking though, because, like we always say here at SodaBottle, you must always be presentable!

Pixi is launching some new products that are made for this particular reason. The London brand has come up with fresh products for the eyes and face – all designed for easy application. The list includes: the Smokey Eye Primer ($18) in Heather Quartz, that gets your eyes ready for shadow; Endless Silky Eye Pen ($14), a creamy, waterproof liner pencil; Flawless & Poreless Primer ($28), which readies the entire face for makeup by smoothing out the skin; and the Lumi Luxe Bronzer Palette ($25), which will be perfect for summer with its bronze shades that give a sun-kissed effect.

Pixi creator Petra Strand has shared some helpful, fast-and-easy tips for using the new makeup. The makeup artist recommends using the Smokey Eye Primer as a contour shade. She says that you can wear three ways, with just quick swipes on your lids. Try it on its own for subtle shading, under a deep, smokey powder for an intense eye, or add a lighter color on top for a cool 3D effect. She says the Endless Silky Eye Pen is just as easy to apply as well – use it like a crayon to line your upper and lower lids, and it will give you the same effect as that of a liquid liner, which is a lot harder to use.

Petra also touched on how they made the Lumi Luxe Bronzer such an easy product. You don’t even need a brush with it, since you can just use your fingers to directly swipe the powder right on your cheeks, lids and lips. As a last tip, she advises using the Flawless & Poreless primer on top of makeup throughout the day. Yes, primers are used before makeup, but Petra says that this primer can be used to refresh your makeup and keep you from doing multiple retouches.

The new line of wake-up-and-go products will be out by March. Look out for them in the Target store near you, or online.
