Fashion Extra: Derek Lam designs Emmy Awards Green Room

Derek Lam temporarily shifted his attention from fashion to interior design as he was tapped to design the Green Room of the 2012 Emmy Awards. Together with Emmy ®’s official partner Audi, and interior designer Neal Beckstedt, the three collaborated on creating an elegant space that is hinged on the night’s theme—performance and style.
The Green Room turned out to be a wonderful mash-up of Audi and Derek Lam’s founding aesthetics, as it made good use of pieces that embody the two brands’ design philosophies. A beautiful silver fabric surrounded the area, while a lineup of vintage and contemporary furniture finished the design with minimalist flair.
“We really wanted to create an environment where there was already glamour backstage, like a little club where it wasn’t just about waiting to get on stage,” said Derek to Women’s Wear Daily.
