Music Mix: Rihanna Top Bills Hackney festival
Posted by Alex Lagman on June 26, 2012 under Entertainment,Music MixRihanna found some loving from some 100,000 viewers at the recently concluded BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend as she closed the free two-day event in East London. The “Umbrella” hit-maker’s spectacular performances brought the house down despite the wet weather.
With an Egyptian-inspired stage, the 24-year-old singer started her set with “Only Girl in the World” wearing leather jacket that was embellished with gold and stylish sunglasses. The crowd sustained the liveliness when Rihanna belted out her lined-up hits including “Disturbia”, “S&M”, “Rude Boy”, and “Love the Way You Lie” among the others. She even cried out in between the show, “Hackney, you’re crazier than they told me!”
Her mentor, Jay-Z, also rocked the festival when he sang “Talk That Talk” and “Umbrella” with the Barbadian pop star. Rihanna closed the star-studded gig with her catchy song “We Found Love” as the enthralled mass sang along.
Among the American musicians who performed in front of the British audience were Nicki Minaj, Will.I.Am, and Jack White. UK’s very own Leona Lewis, Ed Sheeran, and Rizzle Kicks also took to stage their respective hits.
