Soda Pop: Engagement Alert – Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

It has finally happened – Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are engaged. The Hollywood megastars have been a couple for seven years, and have six children – Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. The news erupted after Angelina was seen at a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with a never-before-seen diamond ring on her finger. The couple’s representative then confirmed to People, stating, “It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy.”

Angelina and Brad had a rocky start. They met on the set of the movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004. Brad was then married to Jennifer Aniston, and the tabloids had a field day when pictures of them getting close on set came up (see picture above). In January 2005, Brad and Jennifer broke up after five years of marriage. They divorced in March 2005. In April 2005, pictures of Angelina and Brad with Angelina’s adopted son Maddox in Kenya surfaced, and then in July 2005, the pair posed for a raunchy photo book for W magazine, which was said to have upset Jennifer greatly. It was a scandal that rocked Hollywood, and the media was relentless on the three stars for years.

However, Brad and Angelina have weathered the storm. They have been steady since, and are happy with their large brood. They may have had a rocky start, but it sure appears to be meant to be.
