Most wore short dresses at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, but some ladies took the red carpet less traveled with mid-length frocks and long gowns. You saw everything on your TV, but you can click through our slideshow to see their outfits again.
Adele wore a modest, black Burberry dress with a geometric print and mid-length skirt. It was an elegant choice, and her big hair gave her look an interesting, retro vibe as well. Beyonce was beyond blooming in a flowing, one-shouldered, orange Lanvin long gown. The star just revealed that she was with child, and her look was maternity dressing at its finest! Kim Kardashian wore an ensemble that was typical for her – a low-cut Kaufman Franco gown with a major focus on highlighting her curves. It was a silver, body-hugging dress that she wore with a silver cuff, and she looked simply sexy in it. Miley Cyrus arrived in a light teal blue Roberto Cavalli long gown that was too mature for her. It had a schizophrenic black print on it – animal print on top and floral on the bottom – which looked too busy. The dress also had long sleeves, which further added years to her look. Selena Gomez was another young star who ended up looking older than she really was. She wore a black, gothic Julien MacDonald with major lace trimmings. She matched it with gold accessories – a Judith Lieber clutch and Brian Atwood heels – but it still came off a little too Halloween.
