Product Pick-Me-Up: High Definition Eyes with NYX

Posted on August 18, 2011 under Beauty,Product Pick-Me-UpEye shadow usually has the annoying habit of looking perfectly fine in the morning but disappearing by lunch time. Retouching is not a big deal, but there are times when you don’t want to tote your enormous eye shadow palette around, or when you simply have more important things to do with your time. That is why eye shadow primers were invented – for makeup to stay on your eyes once and for all. We recently got to test out one such eye shadow primer – the NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base – that the company sent us for review. Here’s what we found.
The NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base looks like a tube of mascara. It’s a simple black cylinder with a slanted applicator. The formula was thick and a dot on each eye was enough to cover both lids. Application was a little tough. The dense consistency of the formula made it hard to spread on skin. It felt heavy on the lids, but when it dried, the heaviness disappeared. It dried very fast though, so we had to move quickly.
Once this primer was on though, it really did its job. It smoothened out the texture and evened out the color of the eye lid skin. Eye shadow went on smoothly on top of it, and the colors looked deeper and richer instantly. The makeup really stuck to it – the shadow stayed on all day. The colors only looked a bit darker, but there was no smearing and no sign of fading.
The NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base is a definite must for your makeup routine. Eye shadow that stays on until the end of the day is a huge convenience if you have a busy schedule, and it saves you a lot of makeup too. It’s $7 at NYX.
