Glorious. Angels and demons. Brilliant. Middle Ages. Divine.

Our minds are in a muddle after seeing Alexander McQueen‘s last collection. The 16-piece collection was 80% complete at the time of this death, and his amazing team made sure his last triumph got a solemn showing. There were prints of paintings from the dark ages, ornate gold embellishments, religious overtones, juxtaposed against tough boots and modern cuts. There were gowns fit for angels, capes that bring to mind church inquisitors and dresses that looked like they were made for medieval nobles and saints. The closing look was a high-necked, very regal piece covered in gold feathers – absolutely remarkable.

The man was a true genius. The entire collection is now available for viewing at AlexanderMcQueen.com.
