Fashion Extra: Spring 2010’s Top Five Trends
Posted on February 4, 2010 under Fashion, Fashion ExtraSpring’s the time for change! Be inspired by this transitional season and give yourself a makeover. This is the perfect time to experiment – out with the tired and dated; in with the new, sassy you! It’s all about making a statement now. Get a sharper haircut, try bolder makeup colors, put on bigger accessories, and most importantly, give your wardrobe a major overhaul.
What’s big in fashion this spring, you ask? There are tons to choose from, ranging from floral to tribal, from lingerie to camouflage. This season offers so many style options, so we asked style expert Lindsay Albanese to help you with your sartorial choices. Here are her top five spring 2010 trends. Choose one, two, or all of them and run with it!
Metallics
Glitzy and bright metallics will have major staying power in spring. Designers made the runways glitter with these flashy accents. A metallic piece will liven up a drab outfit, and put a little sparkle in your life!
Sheer/Exposed Accents
The naughtiest trend of the season is skin-showing clothing – whether it’s a blouse or top with sheer sleeves, or a sexy dress with sheer panels or cut-outs. Either way you wear it, skin-exposed clothing and shoes are sharp and chic. Don’t be scared; you don’t have to be an exhibitionist to rock this! Even a sheer top with a tank underneath pays homage to this trend. Oh La La!!!

Extreme Wedges/Statement Shoes
There are tons of shoe styles to swoon over this spring, but the style I’m feeling the most love for is bold and beautiful – the statement shoe!! From wedges that reach extreme heights to stacked platforms, one thing is for certain – wild, attention-commanding shoes are going to have a serious presence this season!

Accessory Overkill
We’ve all heard of the “Less is more” rule when it comes to accessorizing. This year, that whole theory is out the window! Bigger is better! From necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings, oh my! That’s right, get ready to pile it on and stack it up!

Neutrals
Nothing is more uber feminine and classy than soft, sophisticated neutrals. I love pale, pink, khaki, and heather gray. This palette is the perfect canvas to pair with bold accessories or shoes that pop.
