Foodie Finds: Sansei is Maui’s secret food ingredient

SodaBottle

Maui’s most contemporary sushi mixed with new wave Asian-inspired dishes on the beautiful Kapalua resort grounds gives Sansei Seafood Restaurant the Sodabottle.com five star rating. Sansei’s sushi chefs are brought up through the ranks to create highly imaginative creations, and nothing says this better than Sansei’s signature Panko Crusted Ahi Roll, and the amazing Butterfish. We found the food to have a wonderful taste, but light, and just delicious. The service was delightful, with an environment that is steaming with customers wanting a table and a nice, family feeling from the staff.

Aaron Trujillo, General Manager, says, “The appeal is to the locals, with a consistency of food”, that comes from, “training the recipes hard”. The first Sansei opened in March of 1996 at Kapalua Resorts, Maui, with additional restaurants opening in Honolulu and Kihei, Maui in 2000 and 2002 respectively. In Japanese, the word sansei refers to “third generation” and founder D.K. Kodama felt that this was a fitting name for a restaurant inspired by Japanese tradition, but serving contemporary interpretations of sushi and Asian cuisine. It is also a reference to D.K. Kodama’s background as a third generation Japanese American.

When in Maui, you must Sansei. www.sanseihawaii.com
