TV Tonic: The Beautiful Life now cancelled The Beautiful Life now cancelled

The CW has cancelled the new model drama show, The Beautiful Life (TBL), after a mere two episodes. Ratings didn’t turn out to be what the network expected, but the show should’ve been given a chance. We think TBL would’ve gotten higher ratings eventually, with Ashton Kutcher co-producing and Mischa Barton starring as Sonja, plus the pretty cute cast, which included Elle Macpherson as Claudia, Sara Paxton as Raina, Corbin Bleu as Isaac, Ashley Madekwe as Marissa and Ben Hollingsworth as Chris. After all, we’re sure that everyone would’ve wanted to see more of Nico Tortorella who played the dark, model hottie, Cole. If you can’t get over the cliffhangers, below is a summary of the third episode from the show’s episode guide that tells of what we would’ve seen if the show had been allowed to continue. Darn it, CW, it was just getting good!

“Sonja (Mischa Barton) is being hounded by the press about a risque photo which forces her to consider quitting the modeling business. Aware of the chemistry between Raina (Sara Paxton) and Cole (Nico Tortorella), Claudia (Ell Macpherson) secures a campaign for a major clothing line for the two. Raina struggles with the public image she must maintain with Cole, while her true feelings are for Chris (Ben Hollingsworth). Raina’s family drama finds its way back into her life and she finally faces her father (guest star Sebastian Roche, “General Hospital”). Isaac’s (Corbin Bleu) relationship with Vivienne (guest star Jamie Murray, “Dexter”) is strained when he is surprisingly replaced, by Chris during a photo shoot. Raina’s brother, Alex (guest star Billy Magnussen, “As the World Turns”), lands himself in a bit of trouble with the Russian mob, but Marissa (Ashley Madekwe) comes to his rescue.”

It's too bad that the network cancelled the show. They should have made 5 or 6 episodes before making such rash decision. It's like they wasted money, equipment and the actor's time and effort to make the show. It's really a very sad sad time. As I read the synopsis for the 3rd episode, I think the show get interesting. Of course, they are still on the “testing the waters” stage but yeah if the network would do something like that, they should have a valid reason on why they are cancelling it, not just because of the ratings. Of course 2 weeks is not enough to make a show popular. It needs time and I do think that the network is rushing for something good to happen.
